Intel

Intel is a technology leader with a vast range of
hardware and software solutions.

the challenge

Intel partnered with an SEO consulting agency to develop a strategy for “Topics",  a subset of pages in the "Solutions" section of Intel’s website.  The strategy was solid but required additional thinking around user experience, and story telling.

the solution

Provide recommendations for information architecture and content strategy. Identify gaps in the current intel design system, and design new components to fill those gaps. Turn all strategy and thinking into a functional playbook to be used by Intel designers.

Phase 1 - Zoning and wireframes

Each topic section contained roughly 4-6 pages. The first pass at the designs was in the form of zone diagrams. The architecture for each topic had the same flow: An intro to Intel’s POV on a particular topic, a POV on related subtopics, an introduction to Intel's branded solutions, and last, a specific solution with details and specs.

Once the zones were finalized we moved on to wires with a specific content flow and purpose: to establish Intel as the leader on a particular topic, continue to engage the user, then lead them down a sales funnel.

Phase 2 - Specs down to component level

A gap analysis determined the need for a number of new components including a long format content block that could house a large body of copy and expand and minimize as needed.

Phase 3 - Playbook

For the final hand-off, a playbook would set up Intel designers for success in creating new topic sections.
